Willow and Nutkin

Hi, i got two females last sunday from Martyn. They were ten weeks old the day i picked them up so about 11 weeks old now. I don't know their exact birthdays forgot to ask but hopefully Martyn if he sees this topic will be able to answer that. The girls get on great but are not sisters from two separate litters. Both are Agouti, Willow has two Agouti parents and Nutkin is an Agouti Cinnamon Carrier and her mum is an Agouti Cinnamon carrier and the dad is Dilute White. Both girls have a cute black stripe on their nose that Abigail doesn't have. Some of my earlier Agouti's had it too i think Stripe did and maybe chipper. The girls are settling in well, living indoors at the moment. Hopefully they will join Bailey and Abigail soon. Some of you may have seen some pics already in Hermione's topic. They were very well behaved when we brought them home, they just went into a small pet box which we then placed in my carrier so there was no stressing them trying to catch them, it was a good idea to get them used to the box. On the journey they stayed in the box, one did come out the journey to the car but nearly all the journey they were in the box, one did look out a few times. Ten minutes after going in their cage they were out exploring, they had abit of a restless first night sleeping. Unlike what Hermione was like when we first got her, they don't hide when we go near the cage but haven't taken any treats from our hands yet. Its good though they are not very nervous. Nutkin likes the wheel she spends alot of time on it. Both girls look very alike but Nutkin has more gold on the rump and stripes.

Awwwww...they are very pretty little girls.......I'm now trying to decide on wether or not to buy another female......   It's finding one near enough

Thanks Sam_Spice, its not me i'm not a great photographer, its my dads camcorder it takes great quality video and also still pictures, it has a great zoom. Even pausing video shots gets a quite high quality image. Alot of my pictures are done this way, i can then get pics of them close-up and doing interesting things i couldn't catch easily on a still image.

Thanks Dayle, how many Chipmunks do you have now? I was so sorry about Lionel and now hearing about Fidget, tragic really sorry she was such a character. I know you couldn't replace her and that she was your favourite, she was like my Ginger and Hazel how special she was. I'm guessing you have two females? so maybe getting a third female might be nice, how are Lily and Bea doing?

Thanks Elliott, i really like the name willow. Willow was a squirrel in The Animals of Farthing Wood a programme i watched as a girl and i thought Nutkin another squirrel from The Tale of Squirrel Nutkn went well with it. That was a favourite childrens book. I also think the name really suits a squirrel and he was a Red which is my fav squirrel. Its a good pic apart from the bars in the way which kind of spoils the picture.

Thanks Pinkpill, its always fun getting new babies, finding out about their personalities and watching them grow up. Aww hope Freaky likes his new friend. I think Ferrets are sociable so they should get on well.

Alv's doing very well thanks.
I gave his aviary a much needed clean out yesterday. There was all sorts of weird plants growing in it. The idea was to leave the ground a while to see what was emerging.
We did want to see a few sunflowers, but it looked more like a weed farm 
I've also tried a couple of times to pair Alv up with a mate. He just wont entertain any ( literally ).It looks as though he likes his own space too much 

So I'm a bit envious of you all with your colonies

Hi Gilly, thats great glad his doing well. Shame he didn't like a friend but I guess he likes all the space to himself. Having a colony is working for me at the moment but i know in the past i have had lots of problems so who knows if it will stay that way. As they are a family i think thats helping.

I took a few pictures of Nutkin and Willow earlier, both are doing ok.

Willow and Nutkin went outside today in their cage. Abigail didn't show any interest and went in the night house but Bailey was quite interested in them and they were curious about him and sniffing him as he climbed on the cage. It seems to be going ok so far not seen any aggression but who knows when they are let out probably in a few weeks time. Willow and Nutkin are abit nervous because of course there are alot of new sounds to get used to and suddently there are lots of Chipmunks around. They are both awake at the moment eating some food, can't see Bailey or Abigail so may have gone to sleep.
