Day-to-day entertainment?
« on: June 17, 2010, 03:40:03 PM »
Just moved to a new house and the chipmunks are now in my bedroom  :icon_thumleft: but it means they are constantly shut in at the moment as I want to let them lose on a day when my new landlord will be away for a couple of days in case they escape the room or I can't catch them or whatever else I can imagine they might do to embarrass me :sign10: I think I have the weekend free so tomorrow they will get their first run around on carpet and I am praying they don't pee anywhere as its white  :icon_biggrin:

Back to the point   :icon_bounce:

I was thinking I want to do something different for them everyday while they're "locked up" as they have sat giving me the death stare for the last two days and I don't think I can take anymore of it! I swear they both went on hunger strike for the first day of the move but back to their greedy selves now  :icon_thumleft:

I can put different fruit and veg in but that doesn't last long, I have tried toilet rolls but they ignore them, I will try my flying saucer again, and was thinking I can try some plants and branches and some various cardboard boxes with nuts in so they have to figure out how to get into them. Any one else got any ideas of some boredom breakers? I reckon if I can get a good weeks worth then keep rotating everyday that should sort them incase they have to stay inside more than the last house.

Can't wait til I get my own place in 2 months then hopefully they can live loose.... although I might be getting carried away hehe  :angel9:

Maybe you could buy a ball?? I bought two. It means I can let a pair out to roam around freely. By the way, the medium size ball is better than the large. They dont get stuck as much, and chippie can maneuver about better. So you get the best of both worlds, your happy, their happy.

Hi Sam,

Mine wonder into the ball out of curiosity at first but now I reckon they go in because they know they'll get out the cage to play. My oldest chipmunk didn't use the ball to begin with as I had him for almost a year before I got the ball. When I put him in he hated it. He constantly jumped around, panicked and started chirping so I leave him to run free. He's really tame so I can easily get him out of places I don't want him in!

Sorry no laptop so don't get online much!

The pair are great in their new room, they get to come out everyday (or near enough) and now I've learnt that the plants have to be taken out  :icon_biggrin: Soil all over a white carpet!! Luckily the hoover managed it  :notworthy: The two of them are a pair of lunatics and run round like lighting!! Ive even seen them both lying down now, taking a chill on the windowsill or the radiator  :love3: Even solved how to get them in when I want now, I just lock their cage while their running lose so they have no food.... im a mean mum!! Then I put their new food in and open the door and they are in within 5 minutes  :icon_thumleft:

I've got some video's on my phone which I will try and get online some time  :hello:
