Homemade food prices
« on: July 16, 2010, 04:37:51 PM »
Hello,
When I get my chipmunks I will most likely be making my own dry food for them because as most of you say all chipmunks are different and like different things so I thought that if I put in all the things they like and all the things that are good for them, then I don't have to waste unnecessary amounts of money for things they will anyway not like.

It would be great if some of you could post some prices of individual seeds and nuts and all that and where to get it. Also adding to that if you could also post all different things that they need and like then some people can probably find some prices when going out somewhere.

I have read from others that chipmunks like peanuts and I was just at work experience at Focus DIY and saw a bag of 15kg was £23. Anyone make that better and I wouldn't be surprised as Focus are quite expensive.

P.S. Try to only write about quite big shops and not too small ones which are only in your area but if you do then write where aswell please

Thanks,
Timor

15kg is an awful lot of nuts  :laughing4: unless you intend to feed the local squirrel population I would suggest a bag from ASDA @ £0:99p will do just as well once every two weeks buying in bulk is fine for most things but you must remember how many chipmunks you intend to have and how much space they will have :icon_scratch: if you wanted to no doubt you could feed the peanuts from a 15kg bag to them over say a month but where would they put them all? under the mattress  :nono:  best to keep fresh where possible and I think 15kg would not be so fresh when you got to the end of the bag :dontknow:

Ye I kind of thought that 15kg would be too much :P although that is the only one I remember. There were some smaller bags which I think was 1.5kg but not sure.

Thanks for the reply :)
