One Agouti female needs rehoming

Due to fighting i had to separate Nutkin and Willow and now i have Nutkin inside and she is not happy

Nutkin is still quite wild, i did get her used to me abit to take food from me but she is still very timid and she needs someone to spend alot of time with her taming her and with all the Chipmunks i have and now that she is indoors i haven't got the time to spend as much time as she needs.

As Nutkin has now attacked two Chipmunks, she needs to be the ONLY Chipmunk, she does not like other Chipmunks

I'd like this to be a forever home but if it doesn't work out then i will take her back.

Nutkin is 8 1/2 months old

She might be best for someone who has had Chipmunks before as i don't feel she is a beginner's Chippie due to the fact she is so timid and needs lots of taming

Hi Chris, i do want her to go to a good home, i wouldn't just give her to anyone. Of course the new owner has to know about Chipmunks. I'll be asking questions about how they plan to keep her and how to look after her well. Because of Nutkin's timidness an aviary where someone could come in with her, either outdoors or indoors would be best but most people wouldn't want to keep a single Chipmunk in an aviary on its own. If someone had her indoors and let her out the cage for a run, it could be very hard to catch her to return her. It took me an hour on monday to catch her, she really did not make it easy, she's not like my tame ones who will willingly climb into a small pet carrier to be transported.

Of course she may be alright with another Chipmunk in a very large aviary, obviously mine was not large enough but in a huge aviary it might work although i have doubts. I really wouldn't risk her with another Chipmunk again however big the aviary was.

Hi Carl, they are usually about £25 or £30 but i have seen people sell them for more. I found that pet shops charged more for Chipmunks (i paid £50 for my earliest pets) than breeders although it does depend on the breeder and what colour the Chips are. Although i would recommend a breeder over a pet shop as pet shop animals can be very wild.

I was going to rehome Nutkin but after some thought i think its probably best i do keep her after all as she needs alot of taming and also because i'd be worried about her living with another Chipmunk. We are doing rebuilding of our aviaries in spring, and i think i will be able to separate all of them but it will mean major work. As its nearly spring now anyway i think Nutkin will be able to wait for the new aviaries, main reason i so wanted to rehome her at first was i didn't want her to have to live indoors as she was not very happy but she's ended up staying anyway because apart from you i haven't had any interest in her perhaps because she is older (10 months). I think Nutkin should calm down alot once she is living on her own in a nice aviary, she's upset because of the other Chipmunks indoors around her i think so her aviary might have to have covered sides so she can't see the other Chippies but maybe she will be fine with seeing other Chips once outside.

Really sorry i can't help you Carl, it shouldn't be long before there will be new babies though, in a couple of months breeding season will start again and then you should get babies nearer to you.
