females attacking males

i have 3 pairs of chips just latley the females have started attacking the males when they come out the nest boxes
so the males arnt managing to get much water and spending all day in the boxes they are in different cages in different rooms

any ideas why is only started the last 2 weeks and have been fine before
they are around 6 months old

Sorry I am not too sure so hopefully someone who knows will be along. Sounds like a woman at that special time of month
