Chipmunk squeaking
« on: March 13, 2009, 01:45:48 PM »
Hi,

Yesterday my Chipmunk was squeaking, what does this mean?
He is definitely male as I've read females squeak when they are ready to mate.
He did it a few times with a pause in between, he did not seemed stressed was just sat on his shelf where he usually sits.
Any ideas greatfull.
Thanks.

Nate

I've some of my males do that, normally the more dominant ones. I'm not absolutely sure what it means, as it's not as loud as their alarm call. As I've noticed them do it when woken up in the middle of the night i think it might indicate that they have some kind of distress or concern, but not enough to take flight. I wonder if they are warning others of a possible threat level. But it might just be “hey I'm here, anyone else about?”  :hello:
