Hermione's babies born 22nd March 2010

I got some pics of Pearl today but she is being abit distant at the moment, since going back in the aviary she won't come near me now. I have a few of the other Chipmunks too and a few videos but they still are uploading. Gave the Chipmunks nut sticks today, Hermione got a honey nut one on thursday and she loved it but also gave the same one to Abigail and Bailey who both liked it too. Asriel and Pearl got a corn and fruit one, they both liked it but Pearl waited until i had left before she ate some. They have had the sticks before but a different favour and not since last year.

4. Short 2 minute video - Hermione eating and her babies in nest box, this was just before i handled the babies. Notice the cuttlefish where she has eaten it, before getting pregnant she never touched it, when pregnant she just licked it now she eats it.

Hi, babies are now three weeks old. All are doing great. The boy is moving great he was crawling fast across the floor and seemed to be using his back legs abit instead of just dragging them behind. He just would not sit still on the scales so i did my best with the weighing, one girl too didn't want to sit on the scales.

Approximate weights and lengths.
Baby boy 24g (he does seem the biggest)     16cm
Baby Girl 1 is 20g         15 1/2 cm
Baby Girl 2 is 22g         16  cm
Baby Girl 3 is 22g         15 1/2 cm

I'm looking forward to their eyes opening now, think baby boy will be the first to leave the nest once his eyes open

They're coming on great jenny. Lovely pics. I'm expecting mine to come out of the nest box in the next couple of days.

Babies today are 22 days old and all are walking now but shakily. As you can see in the pics their back legs face forwards now when they walk, i got a few pictures of them walking   

Some of the pics are not the most attractive but they should be good for sexing as they are quite clear pics, not easy to take though as they don't like being on their bellys.

they so lovely apart from the 2nd to last 1 which is just plain rude  u really should teach ur chippies some manners  there could be children an this site 

they are very sweet at that age tho just before and when their eyes are opening (all eyes n head)

I agree Pinkpill that they are sweet at the moment because soon i won't be able to control them

The babies are now 23 days old and they are all walking great, they were almost running in all directions omg it was mad trying to keep them under control. Some of them were even climbing up my arm 

Two of the girls have top teeth just coming through, all four of them have longer bottom teeth, they haven't started biting yet though

You always manage to get great pics! The one's on their belly's will prove very useful to anyone that is not too sure how to sex babies.
I caught a glimpse of 3 little noses poking out of the nest box today. I'm hoping that tomorrow one will venture out then the rest will follow!

Pictures from yesterday now added. None from today i didn't get them out today but could see all four moving about in the nest box and curled up next to mum. Since having the babies Hermione has gone back to her nervous self, when i approach the cage she just hides and its not getting any better and probably worse. I just hope these babies will be friendly and not wild like her.

Babies are 25 days old and one girl has an eye partly open. 

I weighed them again all are putting on weight.

The boy is 28g and 18cm
Girl 1 is 24g and 17cm, shes the one with the eye opening
Girl 2 is 28g and 18cm
Girl 3 is 26g and 17 1/2cm

The other girl and the boy have top teeth just coming through.

The girl with her eye open kept climbing up my arm and back she looks so cute, the other three were all walking and climbing well but some still abit shaky. One other girl also looks like an eye is about to open, it doesn't look as tightly sealed.

Got a pic of Hermione, i used honey and peanut butter to get her to climb up, she loves it and i was able to get close.

Yes poor Hermione, the babies give her a hard time when feeding, they really push into her, pull on her and kneed with their paws and i think some of her fur has been pulled out as their teeth are getting longer.

Both eyes are open today  (well i think its the same girl) Both of them were wide open and she wanted to explore everywhere but soon got tired from all her walking and climbing 
Another girl is just peeking from one eye. The boy and last girl still have sealed eyes.
