Hi Abigail lost her litter beginning of March as some of you might know, she was looking quite large but then suddently lost her bump plus there was some blood from her vulva so she must have given birth. I took her nest apart and searched through the wood shavings but no sign of the babies. The other day i woke up late as i wasn't feeling well and when i looked out of my window i noticed Bailey following Abigail closely around the aviary, i watched for a while and he wasn't leaving Abigail alone at all, i thought this is not like him because normally she won't tolerate it and he would soon leave her alone. When i got downstairs and looked out the garden Bailey was still pursing her and then i saw them mate they stopped when they saw i had seen them and i thought ok that probably explains his behaviour plus Abigail didn't beat him up when he mounted her. Not long after they went into the nest box but kept coming out and going in again as Bailey was chasing her around but she decided to then go to bed so he came out again on his own for an hour. Anyway now i am worried that she'll get pregnant again i didn't expect it to happen too soon, i thought she probably wouldn't again until summer now so thought it would be safe for him to go back in with her. Obviously because of her history with babies i'm worried she will kill her new litter which would be very sad and i would feel it was my fault for not keeping them separate. The same day i also noticed Abigail was grooming herself alot and scratching again.
Should i be worried that the same will happen or maybe this time she will know what to do. I will obviously keep a close eye on her if she is pregnant especially when birthing time comes. Would it be best to leave her in the aviary or bring her inside for the birth?
