Uploading pics???

Can anybody tell me how do I upload an avatar pic and normal pics? Ive tried a few things for the avatar. All i get is a message saying its too big or not an avatar. When I tried to put up pics of the chipmunks in a new topic, i click in insert image and all that happens is this,,, [pic][pic]. Im stumped! Help

Hi Alan, i had a few issues with pics at first, they would not load direct from my PC. I then created an account on Photobucket, uploaded my pics to there and once in my photobucket album just hover over the pic you want and it drops down a direct link which you just "copy" then "paste" between the [pic][pic] option here on the forum then once you post your new topic the pics will be displayed.

As for avatars i go here   http://avatars.jurko.net/10/   same again choose the image copy the link and paste it into the upload option of the avatar.

I think the problem people have with uploading pics directly from the pc is the actual picture size is too big.
If you edit the picture in Paint you can quite easily reduce the size of the pictures say by 50% and they should upload with no problems.

I use microsoft picture editing which has a provision for re-sizing for web pages

Okay thanks guys. I got my avatar up but actual pictures seem a problem. Ill give it a go

Alan glad you sorted out the avatar.

For anyone else stuck on avatar's, it can be any old photo, but it may need reducing down quite small to be able to upload it.

There is two ways to show photos in the post.

There is the second icon in which says 'insert image' when you put your mouse over it. That's for when you have a photo already uploaded somewhere on the web like on Photobucket or Flicker.

The other option is for when you have photos on your hard drive and you want to upload to this forum.

There is a link in the bottom left corner of the 'post reply' form named 'Additional Options'

Clicking that will bring up a box named 'attach' short for attachment. Click the browser button to locate the photo you want to upload from your hard drive. You can upload more than one photo for each post by clicking on the link in brackets which says 'more attachments'.
