it is very hard having to give up the fosters    but because i believe that there  are still  great homes out their it makes it all worth it, also there is and always will be another poor creature that  needs a helping hand,or paw to get a better life in a loving home,  and its great to see them get well again and learn to trust another person, so this is why i foster, but some fosters tug at your heart strings a little too much and they worm their way in and end up staying, why do you think i have as many pets as i've got? yep you guessed it we mostly fostered worms

I love your gsd's jules. I had one a few years ago but unfortunately he was epileptic. One day he had 26 fits which left him brain damaged so i had to have him put to sleep. He was only 2 1/2 yrs old. I was heartbroken. I looked into rescuing one but our local rspca won't re-home them to people with children under 14. It's such a shame that they all get tarred with the same brush. My Barney was fantastic with the kids & didn't have a mean bone in his body.

hi candyfloss,i fostered a gsd with epilepsy his name was jake,  he was found wandering the streets and got taken to the pdsa wo gave him enough meds for a small pony,, so when i saw himhe was trying to walk on water, and through walls, because was over medicated, we had to slowly decrease the meds and he slowly came down we only had him 2 weeks as like yours he had foourteen fits in an hour so felt it unfair to continue as a gsd needs to be able to run and he was either spaced out or fitting,he even tried walking onwater and i had to rescue him fromthe pond on several occassions, but did learn that flora margarine on an epileptic animals food can help to control epilepsy along with the meds of course, ,we were gutted that jake had to goonto play in the great fields elsewhere and even though only had him 2 weeks still miss him loads,

Here is our rabbit buzz we got on Thursday 13th may, this was taken after he kicked me off the sofa lol, a few hours after we got him from a rescue centre.  As you can see he has made himself right at home.

hi yes,  abe and jemima,  bit of a learning curve for me, as no basic diet just fruit crickets mealworms and leadbetters diet,  they also hiss when happy and make a crabbing sound bit like cat purring when upset so  as i used to rescue feral cats i tend to be a bit jumpy when something hisses, so i need to get used to  thier sounds more but i love them already and they only been here 2 days, so lucky me i have chips in the day  chins in early eve, and gliders for eves

I've never heard of sugar gliders, I thought they were baby chinchilas, which country do they originate from ?

sugar gliders come from Australia as they are marsupials, just like a kangaroo they carry their young in  a pouch, they are nocturnal  and require  a special mix called leadbetters diet which is honey, water, nutrobal high protein baby food and hard boiled egg, they must have protein such as crickets mealworms etc and also various fruits. here is  a sight if you wish to find out more http://www.uksugargliders.co.uk/ they  are roughly same size as a chipmunk but their tails are longer and thicker, they are a relatively new pet to uk but popular in the states, like i say learning curve for me but did do alot of reading and digging on net for info before i got them

I was actually going to get a sugar glider and I started doing some reading and didn't find them as being my thing although I bet they are lovely pets jules. I then saw chipmunks and thought I had to have one, so I did some reasearch found information on here and I'm getting 2 females when I move. :)

Pitkin, cute Rabbit never owned a bunny, hi Dave my cousin has two Guineapigs, ones called Treacle and the other Toffee, they are great, we look after them when they go on holiday. We haven't got our own Guineapigs but would like to get a couple. Hi jules, Abe and Jemima are very cute, i once saw Sugar Gliders when i bought my Sandie and in the future would like to own a couple but i know they are very specialised so not in any hurry. I want to learn as much about them as possible before i get any.
