Cuteness Pics // Cage Pics (+Video)
« on: May 08, 2010, 07:51:36 PM »
Got some recent pictures I wanted to share =D Some are just pure adorable. I recently added new rope structures and piping to both, and a bunch of cloth stuff to Michy's home.

I agree. Love the cage. I would like to build something similar to yours very soon.

Great cages, plenty of room.   What's the new toy you added?  sure looks like Luci was having fun.

Thanks for the cage compliments =D They were DIY. I made them with my dad, who is pretty skilled unlike me (but I can follow directions and am way more motivated). All it took was $100, a couple tools, nails and glue. And band-aids - I always cut myself on the wire! It's a dangerous business, those chips  :P

Luci's big breeding house - 4'6" feet long (1.37 meters) by 2'6" wide (0.76 meters) by 6' tall (1.82 meters)
Michy's house - 4'6" feet long (1.37 meters) by 2'6" wide (0.76 meters) by 4' tall (1.21meters)
(Same length and width, different height - both for a single female chipmunk, but the larger will be for babies if I am lucky enough)

The sisal rope pieces were new, as was both the white pipes on the bottom. Luci got that toy she was playing with in the video, which now hangs in the upper left-hand corner of her cage. Michy got the red snuggle sack, ceiling hammock, and awesome coconut basket.

Go you! (& dad)  DIY is best, it lets you incorporate things that you've maybe seen else where - also means you can add to it or modify it at a later stage without feeling guilty that you're damaging some expensive cage.

My husband built my outdoor 'munkery' a couple of years ago.  I hoped for babies last year - but alas, nothing.  So didn't give it much thought this year till we heard the sounds!  the cage should be big enough to hold them all, I don't think I could part with any!

What is the toy that Luci is playing with in the video, it looks like foam with fur round it?

That it is  :hello2:  Outdoor sounds like fun with so much more room - If I move I want one outdoor enclosure to to play in... er, for the chips to be in I meant, of course. Congratulations on your recent litter!!!  :icon_cheers:

That's a store-bought toy that I picked up while out for litter at a local petstore. I think it was $6 but came without a tag/name so I just call it the stump/log thing. The outside is a fuzzy/downy material (feels like fake fur) and inside is a cavern in soft yellow cloth fleece-type material. There is also a little butterfly cutout on one side - Luci tried biting it off. Since the video I've hung it up in the left-hand corner of the ceiling.

I uploaded some recent videos/pics and thought I'd add their URLs to this thread. The cuteness is intense!

Here is a Swing - VERY simple, quick to make, cheap, yet so much fun!

Swing Video of Michy: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/uNJLNyw7Ncw&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/uNJLNyw7Ncw&rel=0</a>

PS: Do not put towels INSIDE chipmunk cages, only outside

While out on a run Michy realizes the lid on the nut container is loose and breaks in!

o= Cute thief.
