Toxic plants to keep away from chipmunks
This is not a scientific document, but rather an image gallery of some of the various trees, flowers and shrubs found in the UK which can either kill of make your pet chipmunk ill. These pages are image intensive, so as this section grows it will be spread over many pages to help speed up downloads. I don't know much about plants, but I would like to see close up photos of plants which are dangourous to use in a chipmunks home so I can use it as a reference.
Chipmunks do sometimes like and need to chew on something woody so you will want to put something in their homes. So far I have used Apple, Pear, Cherry, Willow and Oak branches with no bad effects. I've also given my chipmunks Marigolds, Dandilion leaves and rose petals, also the odd tub of cress, all washed first of course.
You may also want to download this colourfull guide releating to toxic plants for rabbits which I found orginally on the Russel Rabbit site (www.russelrabbit.com) but at the time of writing, that site was down. But they have another site at http://www.smallanimaladvice.com or you can download the plant advice PDF from here.
Be carfull which plants you put in your pets home as chipmunks cannot always tell what's not good for them.
Yew tree
Often found around church yards the Yew tree is the one conifer in the UK which is poisonous, so avoid this tree even if it looks dead and dried out. I've put up quite a few photos of yew trees to give you an idea of what to look for. I had to find an old country gentleman to point this killer out to me, as I had no idea what a yew tree looked like :) If you think you recognize the place, it's a village called Dunster near Minehead.

Foxglove
Just like the Yew, Foxgloves are also very poisonus, even us humans should not touch these herbs with our bare skin. I've put a photo in of the leaf, incase you come accross them when not in flower.
